Obituary

SALEM - Helen M. (Cunningham) Nichols, 100, wife of the late Capt. Harvey F. Nichols, Sr, of the Salem Fire Department, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem.

She was the daughter of the late Chester L. and Ellen (Butler) Cunningham of Gloucester and Annisquam.

She graduated from Salem Commercial School and was employed as a secretary at the Frank E. Davis Co. of Gloucester and worked at the Sylvania, Loring Avenue, Salem plant during WWII. She later worked at Coon’s Card Shop in Salem.

A longtime active member of the Tabernacle Church, Salem, she taught Sunday School for 18 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Tabernacle Women’s Association.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, June T. Nichols of Hamilton, grandson and wife, Peter A. & Paige E. Nichols of Beverly, three great grandchildren, Jason A. Nichols of Raleigh, NC, Megan Sears of Albuquerque, NM, Ian A. Nichols of Salem, three great great grandchildren, Calvin, Maia & Jude Sears, 2 nieces, Jane E. & her husband Jean-Paul Dionne of Salem and Roberta L. & Peter Pool of Essex, CT. In addition to her loving husband, she is predeceased by her son, Harvey L. Nichols, Jr., sister Bertha L. Doyle, Brother, Phillip B. Cunningham and granddaughter, Pamela A. Nichols.

Her funeral service will be held Monday, June 18, 2007 at 11am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visiting hours are Monday morning, from 9 to 11 am, prior to the service. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Burial is in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
