Else K. (Tonnessen) Antunes, 78, of Las Vegas formerly of Norton died on Friday June 8, 2007 at the Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas. She was the beloved wife of Americo D. “Ricky” Antunes.
Born in Boston, MA on September 10, 1958 she was loving daughter of the late Olaf I. and Hazel M. (Pedersen) Tonnessen.
She grew up in Boston and was educated in Boston schools. She had also attended Bryant & Stratton College in Boston.
Mrs. Antunes had worked in the Credit Department at Texas Instruments in Attleboro for 22 years before retiring. She had formerly worked in the Norton School Department as an Elementary School Secretary.
Else was a former member of the Mansfield Baptist Church. An avid golfer, she was a former member of the Norton Country Club. She also enjoyed reading, trips to Foxwoods and traveling. She had taken several trips thru the years to Europe.
She had lived in Las Vegas for the past 2 years and was a former 42 year resident of Norton. She had originally started summering in Norton in 1958. .
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews; Helen Chisholm of Melrose, Hazel Reid of Melrose, James Tonnessen of Manassas, Virginia, Arne Tonnessen, Jr. of Woodsville, New Hampshire, Paul Tonnessen of Melrose, David Tonnessen of Melrose, Kristin Mayo of Georgetown, Texas and John Tonnessen of Marshfield. She is also survived by her step-brother James McLaughlin of Everett as well as many great and grand nieces and nephews and cousins in Norway. She was the dear sister of the late Arne Tonnessen, Sr.
Graveside services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday June 30th at 10:00 A.M. at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Curran Road, Cumberland, Rhode Island. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Else’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to The Alzheimer’s Association Massachusetts Chapter 311 Arsenal Street Watertown, 02472.
