George A. Nuttall Jr.
...finish carpenter; Vietnam Veteran; 60
BILLERICA - George A. Nuttall, age 60, the beloved husband of Diane (Barrett) Nuttall, with
whom he had celebrated a 33rd wedding anniversary this past September 29th, died Friday
evening, June 8, at the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital, after a courageous and
lengthy struggle against Pancreatic Cancer. Mr. Nuttall was a veteran of the Vietnam War,
contractor and carpenter. He was born in Lowell, on September 15,
1946, a son of the late George A. Sr. and Avita V.
(Desmaris) Nuttall. He was raised in Tewksbury, and graduated from the Tewksbury Memorial
High School. He entered into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, served aboard helicopter
gun-ships, and had earned the rank of Spc4 Tech upon discharge.
He followed in the career steps of his father to become a contractor and home construction finish
carpenter. He was originally employed with his father at “George A. Nuttall and Sons,” and build
many fine homes in Tewksbury. Later he worked as a self employed home-renovation contractor,
and finish carpenter at various local companies, most recently, at A. Busa Construction in
Bedford.
George enjoyed working in his machine and woodworking shop. He was particularly proud of his
renovation of a 1950's era Chris Craft outboard motorboat runabout, and could be found on
summer weekends cruising the local rivers and lakes.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alfred L Nuttall and his wife
Bonnie (Daly) of Portland, OR, and Mark K. Nuttall of
Salem, NH; a brother-in-law, Michael F. Barrett of FL; two nieces, Anne L. Nuttall of Hawaii and
Christine H. Nuttall of Chicago; a nephew, Kevin Barrett of FL; several aunts and many cousins.
His
Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, June 12, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St.,
Framingham, MA 01701 will be appreciated.
