LOWELL—Helen Parigian, 76 years old, died Saturday at her home after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward A. Parigian, who died in 1993, and loving mother of five children.
Helen was born in Haverhill, on November 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Usten and Titiana (Frederick) Zahoruiko. She was a graduate of Lowell Public Schools and attended the School of Design, in Boston.
Mrs. Parigian was a longtime resident of the Belvidere section of Lowell and had been employed as a Department Store Manager by King’s Department Store and Sew N’Sew. She had a love of sewing and owned and operated her own fashion shop.
Helen held membership and was active in the Lowell Women’s Republican Club; the Lowell Republican City Committee and was a poll worker at the Reilly School, for years. She was a former officer and longtime member of the Lowell Garden Club.
Surviving her are two daughters and a son-in-law: Susan H. Parigian, of Ipswich; and Pamela and Thomas Charbonneau, of Lowell; three sons: John E. Parigian, of Lowell; Edward C. Parigian, of Portland, OR; and Douglas A. Parigian, of Lowell; two brothers: John Zahoruiko, of North Andover; and Donald Zahoruiko, of New Hampshire; a sister: Sonya Slobodnik, of Lowell; also many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Tuesday, November 26th, from 3 until 7 PM at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday morning, November 27th, at 10 AM at ST. GREGORY ARMENIAN APOSTOLIC CHURCH, North Andover. Burial in the Lowell Cemetery, Lowell.
