Obituary

Mitchell of Brockton November 23, 2002, Clayton S. “Mitch” Mitchell (ret.BFD) 75 years. Loving husband of Roseanne L. (Lehane)(Holmes) Mitchell. Beloved father of Barbara (Holmes) Belcher and her husband Edward of Whitman; Donald Holmes and his wife Christine of Brockton and Cheryl (Mitchell) Benoit and her husband Joe of Stoughton. Brother of Raymond A. Mitchell (ret. BFD) and his wife Lucille of Brockton. Also survived by seven grandchildren.

Funeral Service in the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Wednesday at 10 am. The Rev. William McCoy Brockton Fire Depatment Chaplain will officiate. Burial in Union Cemetery, Brockton. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 pm. Donations in Mitch’s memory may be made to the Old Colony Hospice 14 Page Terrace, Stoughton, MA 02072.

Obituary

Mr. Mitchell died Saturday at his home under the care of Old Colony Hospice after a brief illness. He was born in Brockton son of the late Raymond A. and Junie (Packer) Mitchell and was a lifelong resident of the city. He attended Brockton schools and Massasoit Community College Fire Science program.

In 1951 he was appointed to the Brockton Fire Department and retired in 1992. During WW II he served in the US Army in Europe.

He was an avid bowler and played in the Firefighters Ten Pin League.He enjoyed gardening and landscaping around his home and also watching sports.

Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Firefighters Union Local 144 Brockton, the Fire Relief Association, Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts, International Association of Firefighters and the Massachusetts Retired Police and Firefighters Association.

In addition to his wife Roseanne he is survived by one son and two daughters, 7 grandchildren, one brother and several nieces and nephews
