Amanda Lee Oliveira, 19, of Freetown died Tuesday June 5, 2007 at Children's Hospital surrounded by her family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Luis A. and Adelaide (Pereira) Oliveira, she lived in Freetown for the past five years.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Amanda attended Curry College in Milton where she was studying to become a pediatric nurse. She was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, where she received numerous academic awards.
Amanda loved spending time with her family, friends, and boyfriend Michael. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She enjoyed attending parties, shopping, and loved children.
She is survived by her parents Luis and Adelaide; a sister, Jennifer; a brother, Kevin; her grandparents, Paulo and Maria Oliveira of New Bedford and Cisaltina DeBarros of Acushnet; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was the granddaughter of the late Antonio Pereira.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
