Patricia A. "Patsy" (Curran) Sullivan, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died at her home in Charlestown on Monday June 4, 2007 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 76 years old.
Patsy was born in Boston, she grew up in Charlestown, where she attended Boston Public Schools, she recieved an associates degree in liberal arts from Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown. She was a also a champion olympic swimmer and recieved many awards in swimming. Patsy was a dedicated woman who cared mostly for her husband, children, grandchildren and also her mother and siblings.
Patsy is the beloved wife of the late William J. "Sully" Sullivan. She is the devoted mother and best friend to Christine Martell, Patrick Sullivan and his wife Amy, the late Karen Langan and her husband Boston firefighter Joseph all of Charlestown, Donald Sullivan of Oakham and his fiance Anny Fontaine of Sturbridge, Diane Shea and her husband Michael of Medford. She is the loving Nana to Kimberly Allen, Erin Weafer, Patrick and Billy Langan, Michael Sullivan, Michaelagh and Robert Shea, also great-grandmother to Taylor and Brian. She is the loving daughter of Elizabeth "Gert" Curran and the late Lawrence R. Curran of Charlestown. She is the beloved sister of Larry Curran of Charlestown, Joan Matarazzo of Medford, Catherine West and Marilyn Mullaney both of Malden, Theresa Roche of Townsend and the late Gertrude Toner and Catherine "Kay" Hickey. She is also the beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews.
Patsy's Funeral will be held on Thursday June 7, 2007 at 9 a.m. from the Carr Funeral Home 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours for Patsy will be held on Wednesday June 6, 2007 from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
