Obituary

Lorraine R. Kimball, 94 of Derry, NH died Friday June 1, 2007 at her home. She was born in Derry on May 27, 1913 and was a lifelong resident. She was the daughter of the late, William F. and Emma S. (Wilson) Raitt. She was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry and served as Valedictorian. She graduated from the University of NH with two masters degrees and also attended the Boston Conservatory of Music. She was a very talented and well known pianist, which she taught until the age of 93. She was employed as a tutor at Pinkerton Academy for many years, also bringing students into her home to help further their education. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the Derry Garden Club. She enjoyed working as secretary for local businesses and taking courses in creative writing. She also wrote short stories for the Boston Post and articles about local people including, Alan Shepard, Robert Frost and HP Hood. She was a member of the Central Congregational Church, Derry and the Republican Club.
She is survived by two nephews, Kenneth Hollis of Derry, Richard Johnson of New Mexico and one grandniece, Joline Clark. She was predeceased by her husband, Major Wallace Kimball in 1979.
In Keeping with Mrs. Kimball’s wishes, funeral services will be kept private. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
