Jacinto S. Alves, 57, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday, June1 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Susete M. (Botelho) Alves. Born and educated in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he resided in Stoughton for 40 years. Mr. Alves was a custodian with Stoughton Public Schools for 4 years after working for Franklin Sporting Goods in Stoughton for 14 years and Corcoran Shoe for 17 years. He was a member of the San Joao Filarmonica Society in Stoughton. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, music and traveling.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Alves is survived by his daughter, Norma S. Alves and his son, Steven J. Alves both of Stoughton, as well as his brother, Jose S. Alves and his sister, Maria Valadao both of Stoughton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the son of the late Francisco and Adelina (Silveira) Alves.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, June 4 at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 10:30 AM. Visiting Hours Sunday 4-7 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.
