Mr. Michael J. Ort, 49, of 33 Washington Street, Gorham, NH passed away on Wednesday May 30, 2007 at his home. He was born in Fort Madison, Iowa on December 6, 1957 the son of Melbourne L. and Lawanda J. (Turner) Ort and moved to New England 6 years ago. He had resided in Gorham, NH for the past year. He had been employed by the Colebrook School System prior to coming to work in the Berlin School System. He enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling and loved the Great North Woods.
Members of the family include his wife Kelly (Gaffney) Ort of Gorham, NH; a daughter Sarabeth Emily Sims of Mt. Pleasant, IA; a son Arron Michael Ort of Vernon, CT; 2 grandchildren Derek Sims, Jr. and KayLeann Sims; his mother Lawanda Miller of Fort Madison, IA; 3 brothers Melbourne Ort of Des Moines, IA, Gary Ort of Houston, TX and Steven Ort of New London, IA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Melbourne L. Ort.
SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday June 3, 2007 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin, NH. There will be no calling hours. Donations in his memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the Mount Washington Observatory.
