WORCESTER___Dorothy S. (Yuris) Janaitis, 81, of 33 Jefferson Street, died Wednesday May 23 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, John V. Janaitis, a son, Brian Janaitis of Oakham; two daughters, Donna Marie Rewson of Gilbertville and Karen Miles of Putnam; a sister, Ruth Lee of San Diego, CA, three grandchildren, Amanda Miles, Melissa Miles and Jennifer Janaitis and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two sisters, Barbara Statkus and Frances Yuris. She was born in Worcester a daughter of Charles and Helen (Navawauskis) Yuris and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Janaitis was once a cook at Providence House Nursing Home for several years. She was a member of St. Casimir Church and volunteered for several parish activities. Dorothy was also a cub scout den mother. She was a graduate of St. Casimir School and Commerce High School.
The Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday May 31 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence St, Worcester, 01604. DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, is directing funeral arrangements.
