Ralph F. Engley, 77, died at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC on Wednesday, May 23 after a period of failing health. He was the loving husband of Beverly Engley. Born in Norwood, he grew up in Foxboro before living in Stoughton for 50 years. He had resided in Anderson, SC for the past 2 years. Mr. Engley was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended Boston University and the School of Banking at the University of Virginia. His career was spent in banking and the automobile industry before retiring 3 years ago.
Mr. Engley was a member of the Stoughton Little Theatre, Stoughton Rotary Club, Stoughton Chamber of Commerce, Stoughton 250th Anniversary Committee and the Knights of Columbus, Council 200 in Stoughton.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Engley is survived by his son, Steven Engley, his wife Barbara and their children, Justin and Lauren of Iowa and his daughter, Laurie Staveski and her husband Mark of Taunton. He was the brother of Ann Rex of VT, Mary Bourassa of RI, Alice Noonan of Foxboro, Ellen Bearce of Falmouth and the late James Engley and John Engley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, May 30 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph‘s name may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
