Obituary

Michael Korsun, 85, of Olyphant, died Thursday evening in Moses Taylor intensive care unit following an illness. He was the husband of the former Josephine Flerianowicz. They celebrated their 59th anniversary May 8.

Born in Jessup, son of the late Anthony and Catherine Korsun, he was a member of St. Michael's Church, Olyphant. He served in the Army as a private first class for three years. He received the Purple Heart in World War II when he was injured. He also worked as a construction worker in the Local 157.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a wonderful husband, brother and uncle.

Also surviving are a sister, Martha Dutka; three sisters-in-law, Pearl Flerianowicz, Helen Rook and Mary Korsun; nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, Anthony and Joseph; two sisters, Jean Misiewicz and Mary Korsun; and four brothers-in-law, John and Stanley Flerianowicz, Frank Dutka and Mike Rook.

The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home, 129 Grant St., Olyphant, with Mass at 9:30 in St. Michael's Church. Burial, St. Michael's Cemetery, Jessup.
