Gertrude E. (Galloway) Bernard, 90, of New Bedford died Sunday November 17, 2002 at Bedford Village Nursing Home. She was wife of the late Osford G. "Golf Ball" Bernard.
Born in Providence, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary E. (Galloway) Stuart, she lived in the West End of New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bernard provided housekeeping and child care services in area private homes for many years. She later was a foster grandmother.
She was a member of the Susan Sullivou Temple #94 and the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her grandson, Scott Bernard; her godchild, Kevin Lloyd, her caretaker, Jackie Lloyd; and a host of cousins and friends.She was the mother of the late Joanne Bernard.
A Private Committal Service will be held in the Rural Cemetery.
