TEWKSBURY - Robert LeRoy Kennedy, age 73, a retired Raytheon electronic technician and Korean War era veteran, died after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 16, at Wingate at Lowell. He was the husband of the late Nancy E. (Fitzgerald) Kennedy, who died in 2002.
He was born in Medford, July 13, 1933, a son of the late Grace M. (Brattin) Kennedy and the late Stanford J. Kennedy. He was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1951. He served stateside in the Navy during the Korean War. He had been a resident of Tewksbury since 1965.
He was retired from Raytheon after having worked in Bedford and West Andover. In his earlier years he had worked at Sylvania in Woburn, Transitron in Melrose, and Cambridge Memories in Bedford.
He enjoyed television, sports, especially golf, and cribbage. In his later years, he was a daily visitor to the Tewksbury Country Club, and the Bradford Lantern Cafe in Tewksbury. He also enjoyed dining at Tugboats on Hyannis Harbor. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Leann D'Entremont and her husband Richard of Tewksbury, with whom he resided; a son, Robert L. Kennedy Jr. of Tewksbury; a twin brother, William Kennedy and his wife Alice of Melrose; five grandchildren, David and Amy D'Entremont, and Amanda, Jacalyn, and Michelle Kennedy all of Tewksbury.
His funeral services was held Saturday, May 19,in the funeral home. Burial was at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Memorials to the Tewksbury Lions Club, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 314, Tewksbury, MA 01876 will be appreciated.
