Obituary

SHREWSBURY- Donald G. MacMillan 88, of 35 Julio Drive,formerly of Auburn, a retiredEngineer and former Town of Auburn Sewer Superintendent died FridayNovember 15, 2002 in UMASS-Memorial Medical Center, after an illness.

His Wife Phyllis A. MacMillan died in 1996

He is survived by a son Robert D. MacMillan of Princeton, and a daughterJoan M. Pflug, of Worcester, a sister Jean Lupton, of San Diego, CA threeGrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three nieces and a nephew.

Born in Hardwick, son of the late Ernest G. and Edith (Blamire)MacMillan, he was educated in the Hardwick schools, and graduated fromWorcester Polytechnic Institute, in 1936

Mr. MacMillan was an electrical engineer at American Steel and Wire,retiring in 1972. He later served as Sewer Superintendent for the Townof Auburn for many years, and represented Auburn on the Upper BlackstoneWater Pollution Abatement District Commission for 17 years.

Mr. MacMillan was a past chairman of the Finance Committee, past sewer commissioner, Town Meeting member, school building committee member, andwas recipient of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce “Outstanding Citizen"award.

Mr. MacMillan was a Ham radio operator, a member of the Joel H. ProutyLodge of Masons, A former Boy Scout Leader, and Southgate Residents’ CouncilMember and a member of The WPI Old-Timers.

His funeral service will be held Saturday November 23, 2002 at 10:30 AMin the Chapel at Southgate. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery,Auburn.
