Ethel Lee Ewing was born January 3, 1925 in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Henry and Flora Sledge. She peacefully closed her eyes to eternal rest on Friday, May 11, 2007.
Ethel accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in July 1972 and joined St. James Primitive Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Elder W. A. Donaldson. She served as a member of the Usher Board.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Ewing; sisters: Flora “Mutt” Sledge and Vivian “Little” Sledge; and brother, Archie Sledge Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved godson, Maurice “Bo” Wherry; three nieces: Barbara (James) McNichols, Eula Sledge, both of Huntsville, Alabama and Patricia Phillips of Akron, Ohio; six nephews: James, Melvin, Larry, Anthony Sistrunk, all of Huntsville, Alabama, Archie Jr. and Elder Steven W. Sledge, both of Akron, Ohio; a special friend, Betty Williams of Huntsville, Alabama; twelve great-nieces and nephews, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Ewing will be held on Friday, May 18, 2007 from the Saint James P. B. Church. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery. The remains of Mrs. Ewing will be in the church one hour prior to funeral time.
