Mary E. (Naegele) Newby, 81, of North Chelmsford, formerly of New Bedford died December 7, 2001 at Westford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John Mark Newby, and daughter of the late August and Mary Ellen (Normile) Naegele.
Mrs. Newby was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in South Dartmouth.
Mrs. Newby was a member of the Infant of Prague Guild at the former St. Mary's Home in New Bedford and the Couples Club of Our Lady of Fatima Church in New Bedford.
She was a volunteer as a teacher's aide for the Grandmother's Program in the Dartmouth Public School System.
urvivors include a daughter, Mary Ellen Messieri of North Chelmsford; 2 sons, John M. Newby and James M. Newby, both of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Lillian Menard of San Diego, CA, and Helen Page and Margaret DeLacy, both of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Bethany Vaughn of Atlanta, GA, Meggan Newby of Estero, FL, and Matthew John Messieri and John Philip Messieri, both of North Chelmsford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late August Naegele, Jr., and Louise Naegele.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service in the West Chelmsford United Methodist Church, Chelmsford, MA, on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, at 10 AM.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass in St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth, on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at 11 AM. Visiting hours are omitted. Interment private.
