Obituary

WORCESTER-Olga Zois, 88, of 70 Merrick Street died Thursday, November 14th, in UMass Memorial Healthcare/Memorial Campus after a short illness. Her husband, Michael A. Zois, the head chef of Putnam & Thurston’s Restaurant for 18 years, died in 1965. She leaves a son, Nicholas M. Zois of Oswego, IL; a daughter, Aphrodite Sutton of Worcester; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.

She was born in Epirus the daughter of Rev. Fr. Angelo & Presbytera Mastakoulis. She moved to the United States in 1934. Mrs. Zois worked for 21 years as a packager for Table Talk Pie Co., retiring in 1960. She previously worked for many local businesses in Worcester. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. She loved crocheting and enjoyed cooking.

The funeral will be Monday, November 18th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, (oconnorbrothers.com) with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, November 17th from 2:00 until 4:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen Street, Framingham, Massachusetts, 01701-4688.
