Obituary

Louisa Aycock, 87, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, May 5, 2007 at Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Tuesday, May 8 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Aycock was born December 13, 1919, in Telfair County to the late John Cleveland and Lota Bell Davis McLeod. She was a homemaker and had lived in the community most of her life. She was a member of Old Prospect Baptist Church and a Sunday School Teacher in the Intermediate Department. She was very devoted to her family and her friends and was active in her community, being named the Mother of the Year in 1979 by the Downtown Business Association.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Ronny M. & Clarice Aycock of Fitzgerald; two daughters and a son-in-law: Josie A. & Jim Holibaugh and Lota Faye Kite, all of Fitzgerald; six grandsons: Robert (Shelby) Hollingsworth, Jeffery C. Kite, Berry Aycock, Doug Aycock, Tony Aycock, and Toby Aycock; three great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters: Corine M. Powell and Dolly M. Taylor, both of Fitzgerald; and one brother: Jesse (Wilma) McLeod of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Dock Aycock; two sons: Kenneth S. Aycock and Herman C. Aycock; one daughter: Judy L. Aycock; and a grandson: Ron Aycock, Jr. and also five brothers and two sisters.
