Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 8am. Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm.

Daniel “Dan” O’Connell, 54 years, died Wednesday morning at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the husband of Linda M. (Shea) O’Connell. He was born and raised in Somerville, a son of Geraldine (Gans) O’Connell of Somerville and the late John F. O’Connell. He was a graduate of Matignon High School Class of 1970. Until recently he had been employed at the Coca Cola Distributor in Needham for 23 years. He was an avid runner could be seen daily running on Route 123 to Abington. He had run and completed two Boston Marathons. Dan loved time spent with his grandchildren and taking care of his yard.
He is survived by his wife, Linda M. (Shea) O’Connell, two sons, Christopher O’Connell and his wife Dona, Scott O’Connell and his wife Amanda both of Brockton, five grandchildren, Kayla, Kellee, Brandon, Veronica and Nicholas, his mother, Geraldine (Gans) O’Connell of Somerville, four sisters and one brother, Elaine Dugan and Jack both of Melrose, Mary Kurkul of N. Andover, Susan Accorto of Chester, NH and Candace Sloane of Bow, NH and many nieces and nephews.
