THOMPSON, CT - Bernice (Begreen) Ahern, 82, of Thompson Road, died April 16 in Hubbard Regional Hospital. Her husband, John D. Ahern, died in 1987.
She leaves 2 grandchildren, Heather M. Popiak and Daryl A. Popiak, and a son-in-law, John P. Popiak, all of Charlton. Her son, James M. Ahern and her daughter, Mary Ellen Popiak, both died in 2005.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Wilder) Begreen. She attended the University of Connecticut after high school, graduating as a registered nurse. Mrs. Ahern was the school nurse at Thompson Middle School and at Tourtellotte Memorial High School before retiring. She was a member of Saint Louis Parish in Webster.
The funeral will be held on Monday, May 7, at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 14 Lake Street, Webster. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Dudley. There are no calling hours.
