Jadwiga (Dziekanowska) Opila, 81, died Tuesday, April 24, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH. She was the wife of the late Mieczyslaw Opila. Born in Poland, she moved to the United States in 1962, settling in Boston. She was a resident of Brockton since 1974. From 1948 to 1962, Mrs. Opila also lived in Venezuela. She was a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, George Opila of FL, Tony Opila of Dorchester, Ryszarda I. Goodwin of Pembroke, Lidia S. “Lila” Murawski of Wrentham and Christopher R. Opila of Brockton. She is also survived by 1 brother, 1 sister, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Saturday at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9- PM. Donations in Jadwiga’s name may be made to American Lung Assoc., 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451. Burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
