SHREWSBURY- Mabel G. (Backlund) Moalli, 89, of 79 Walnut St., died Monday, November 11 in UMASS Memorial Healthcare, University Campus, after an illness. Her husband of 60 years, August "Gus" Moalli died in 1997.
She leaves a son, Paul Moalli of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Barbara Brown of Mashpee; a sister, Elsie Marsden of Holden; three grandsons, six grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Nils and Matilda (Anderson) Backlund and lived here many years.
Mrs. Moalli was a member of the Shrewsbury Republican Town Committee and a former member of Failawn Methodist Church. She was active in Girl Scouts, a registrar for the Town of Shrewsbury for many years and a board member of Grafton Riding and Driving Club.
Private funeral services will be held in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, (Brittonfuneralhomes.com) 648 MainSt. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
