New Bedford - Eileen (Arruda) Tavares, age 80, of 397 County St., New Bedford, Ma. formerly of 168 Keeley St. and Stetson St., Fall River, died Sunday at Brandon Woods Nursing Home. Widow of Avelino “Val” Tavares. Mother of Kenneth A. Tavares of Fall River, Grandmother of Jeffrey and Jason Tavares, Great Grandmother of Savannah-Marie. Sister of Herman Arruda of Fall River, Raymond Arruda of Somerset, & Rita Albuquerque of N.H. Several nieces & nephews. She was also sister of the late John Arruda.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late John Arruda and the late Dialina (Moreira) Arruda. She was a life long resident of Fall River, until moving to New Bedford. Before retiring, she was a Nurses Assistant at Charlton Memorial Hospital, and previously, she worked at helbourne Shirt, Firestone, and Tioga Mfg. She was a member of St. Michael Church.
Her private funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 N. Main St. Wake & Burial to be private.
