Obituary

JOSEPH ORMSTON, a Hingham resident for almost 50 years, died on Saturday, April 21st at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. He was 79. Mr. Ormston was born in Fall River and was raised and educated in Fall River and Braintree. He served with the United States Army for 13 years which included the Korean War. Following his military service, Mr. Ormston worked as a welder for several sheetmetal shops in the South Shore area fabricating kitchen equipement. He retired 9 years ago. He was a family man who enjoyed fishing and his garden.

He leaves his wife, Mary L. (Taylor) Ormston of Hingham; two daughters, Cheryl A. Duty of Weymouth and Mary D'Ambrosia of Norwell; and his son, Joseph A. Ormston of Hingham. He was the uncle of Bonnie Lane of Hingham, Geraldine Jackson of Braintree, Mary Ormston of Watertown and Robert Ormston of Maryland. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A Prayer Service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 25th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.

Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Glastonbury Abbey, 16 Hull St., Hingham, MA 02043.

The interment is to be private.
