Charles A. Johns, 61, of Sheffield Hill Road, Exeter, died Saturday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce A. (Fiore) Johns.
Born in Johnston, the son of the late Archie and Eleanore (Laabs) Johns, he had been a resident of Exeter for the past 20 years.
He served in the U. S. Air Force during Vietnam and had also served in the Air National Guard for 32 years before retiring in 2005. He was a member of the American Legion and the Warwick Sportsmens Club.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son Benjamin Johns of Pawtucket, a stepdaughter Jessica Bilodeau of Warwick and three sisters Rosalie Desautel of North Providence, Carole Passano of Smithfield, Eleanor DiDanato of Burrillville. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Sibley.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10am in the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with military honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Vietnam Veterans Assoc., Chapter #273, Providence, RI 02940-9447.
