Obituary

Adolph "Curley" Thosz, 86, of New Bedford died April 18, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Adolph was the beloved husband of Pearl (Ferreira) Thosz, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Michael and Anna (Gula) Tchorz, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Adolph was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
He was formerly employed by Alden Corrugated for many years until retirement.
Adolph served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II aboard the USS Spencer. He was awarded the Imperium Neptuni Regis certificate for crossing the equator. He later served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lawe DD-763 during the Korean Conflict. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Campaign medal, Navy Occupation Service medal, China Service medal, National Defense Service medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, World War II Victory medal and the Good Conduct medal.
His favorite pastimes were furniture making, crafting Tall Ship models and spending time with his family and those he loved, especially his grandson Matt.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debra Thosz-Ferreira, and her husband George Ferreira, of New Bedford; a grandson, Matt Ferreira of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was the brother of the late Toni Ellis, Anne Almeida and Walter Tchorz.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 23rd at 10 AM in Holy Name of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday morning 8:30-9:30 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Please omit flowers. Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
