She and her husband kept a large vegetable garden. In summertime the family loved to pile into a Grand-Bank dory and go down the Essex River to the backside of Cranes Beach.
After moving back to Salem in 1950 she became a member of the Crombie Street Congregational Church. Alice was a lifelong supporter of the National Federation of Republican Women. She loved the family homestead in which she lived the remainder of her life. She also had a passion for her beautiful flower garden and yard.
