Valborg G. “Wally” (Jonsson) Eklund died on Monday April 16th at Briarwood Healthcare in Needham. She was 96 years old. Born in Orlund Sweden, Mrs. Eklund was a Needham resident for many years. She had also been a resident of Marshfield where she was an active member of the senior citizens. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sabatia Chapter which was located in Dorchester. “Wally” was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards. The beloved wife of the late Robert Eklund, she was the Mother of Robert Eklund Jr. and Barbara Ryan both of Needham and the late Sonja Cox. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren as well as extended family in Sweden and California. Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Ave Needham on Friday April 20 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM followed by interment at the Gardens at Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 12 Noon at the Covenant Congregational Church, 455Arborway, Jamaica Plain. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
