SOMERSET - Ascencao (Roque) Alves, 87, of Regan Rd., Somerset, Formerly of 19 Norfolk St., Fall River, died Saturday in Fall River at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Manuel Sousa Alves. She is survived by 2 Sons: Jack Alves of Somerset & Manuel Alves of Swansea, Sister In-Law: Lillian Roque Motta of New Bedford, 8 Grandchildren, 15 Great-grandchildren, 1 Niece. She was the Sister of the late Patricia Rebello and Frank Roque
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Manuel A. Roque and the late Maria S. (Paulino) Roque. She was a resident of Somerset for 21 years, previously of Fall River for many years. Prior to retiring, she was the former Owner & Operator, with her late husband, of Alves Bakery on Norfolk St., Fall River for 50 years. After retiring she worked at the bakery, helping her Two Sons who owned the family bakery at that time. She was a member of St. Michael Church.
Her Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Wednesday at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford. Calling Hours Tuesday 5-8 P.M.
