Marie (McElaney) Armstrong, 70, died unexpectedly April 12, while vacationing in Englewood Beach, FL. She was the beloved wife of George T. Armstrong for over 50 years. Born in Manchester, CT she was raised in Dorchester Lower Mills and a graduate of Dorchester High School. She also attended Burdette Business College. She was a resident of Avon for over 50 years. Mrs. Armstrong was a homemaker. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her children, Michael E. Armstrong of NH, Maureen E. Kean of Stoughton, Timothy J. Armstrong of Norfolk, Paul R. Armstrong of NY and Christine M. Bosco of Brockton. She was the sister of Edward J. “Rusty” McElaney of Stoughton and Patricia M. Olsen of Medfield. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Wednesday, April 18 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, Avon at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 5-8 PM. Donations in Marie‘s name may be made to Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism, PO Box 767, Framingham, MA 01701. Burial will be private.
