Ms. Youmans, a longtime Tifton resident, was born on February 10, 1914 in Nashville, Tennessee and was the daughter of William Cummins Tinsley and Gladys Young Tinsley, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Marion Youmans; and a granddaughter, Wendy Youmans. She came to Tifton in 1935 and moved to Macon in 2005. She was a beloved and cherished friend to all who knew her. She dedicated her time, energy and love to all those who came under her Christian influence through her over 60 years as teacher, then director of the Children's Division in Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Tifton. She served as G.A. Director as well and, in the early years, often held the meetings in her home. Many of her former students still remember her positive impact upon their young lives with gratitude.
She served on every possible church committee because her judgment was so highly regarded. Through all the years, she participated in mission trips, international group events and chaired the "Mission Action" committee, whose sole purpose was to answer calls for food, lights, and heat for those in need and she answered night or day.
The lives she touched and molded are living testimonies to a "tiny" lady with an "enormous" heart. She was a housewife and mother.
Ms. Youmans is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. William T. and Cathy Youmans of Knoxville, Tennessee; one daughter, Barbara Youmans Probst of Macon; one sister, Wilda Tinsley Moennig of Nashville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Suzanne Youmans Labrit, Eric Miller, Courtenay Miller, Stephana Miller Lynch, Frank Youmans, Allison Youmans and Cathryn Tinsley Youmans; and eight great grandchildren.
