Obituary

Archie John Thompson, Jr. was born in Blytheville, AR eighty-two years ago and died at his home in Water Valley, MS at 5:30 PM on Thursday, April 12, 2007. “Hank”, as he was known by all, was a member of Camp Ground Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for 30 years, and he retired from Big Yank Corp. in 1987 after working there 35 years.

“Hank” is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Laverne Harmon Thompson and two daughters, Ginger Mills and Sandra Crews all of Water Valley, MS. He leaves ten grandchildren:Jeff Mills, Dave Mills, Nikki Griffin, Chris Crews, Robbie Crews,Sheri Arbuckle, Shelia Zampella, Eric Thompson, Brent Thompson and Daniel Thompson. He also leaves twenty great grandchildren; Courtney Mills, Corey Mills, Nate Griffin, Justin Griffin, Melissa Crews, Matthew Crews, Adam Taylor, Shane Arbuckle, Dusty Arbuckle, Heather Downs, John Michael Crews, Chelsea Crews, Teri Crews, Hannah Crews, Marli Pannell, Caleb Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Alex Thompson,Emily Thompson and Anna Lauren Thompson .

Preceding Mr. Thompson in death were his parents; Archie John Thompson, Sr and Nona Huckaby Thompson; a son, Larry Dean Thompson; a sister, Gladys Musick and a brother, Dean Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, April 14, 2007 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 2:pm Sunday, April 15, 2007 in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Rev. Jimmy Sockwell and Rev. Dan Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow in New Elbethel Cemetery in Lafayette County with Billy Childs officiating at the Graveside. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons Jeff Mills, David Mills, Chris Crews, Rob Crews, Eric Thompson, Brent Thompson, Daniel Thompson and greatgrandson Adam Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are his great grandsons John Michael Crews, Nate Griffin, Shane Arbuckle, Alex Thompson, Caleb Thompson and Matthew Crews.
