Susan L. Parhiala, age 47, of Salem, NH, died Monday at the Massachusetts General Hospital from complications of cancer.
Susan was born in Portsmouth, NH, grew up and was educated in Salem, NH, where she graduated from Salem High School in 1977. Susan was employed by Charles River Laboratories in Wilmington, MA in cancer research for over 20 years and received advanced education in biological and lab sciences.
She enjoyed being with family and friends. She enjoyed wildlife, nature, and hiking. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed time with her horses and other pets. In her teen years, she worked at Shannon trails in Salem, NH.
Susan was predeceased by her Father Dr. Everett W. Parhiala. She was also predeceased by a brother Atty. Peter J. Parhiala.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 11 from 4-7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 12 at 1 PM at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church, 171 Zion Hill Road, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.
