Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Everett E. Knowlton, 88, of 16 Millett Street, died Friday, April 6, 2007 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Curley) Knowlton who died in June of 1977.
Born in Attleboro on October 7, 1918, he was the son of the late Albion and Bertha (French) Knowlton. He had resided in Gloucester most of his life and was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1938.
Everett was employed as a bookkeeper for many years for Parks Brothers and had retired from Fisher & George. Following retirement, he was a carrier for the Gloucester Daily Times until his recent illness.
He was a member, soloist, and former treasurer for the Gloucester Lodge of Elks #892, a member of the Cape Ann Chapter No. 1471, Loyal Order of Moose and a member and soloist of the Dane Street Congregational Church in Beverly. Most recently, he was attending the Wenham Methodist Church and was a member of their choir.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Guy Sholds of Gloucester and Diane Hansford of Merrimack, NH, a son, William M. Knowlton of Lowell, five grandchildren, Karen Hansford and Brad Hansford, Linda Stalzer, Mark, husband of Linda Sholds, Susan, wife of Jay McNeilly, nine great-grandchildren, Mark Sholds, Jr., Jason Geary, Lisa, Hailey and Lilly McNeilly, Melissa Hansford, KateLynn, Chelsey and KyLie Stalzer, five sisters-in-law, Meredith Lamb, Mary Dzierzanowski, Kay Dafara, Alfreda Collins and Margie, wife of Gene Mondello and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Lisa Geary and a brother, Barton Knowlton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at noon in the Trinity Congregational Church, Middle Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 5 – 8 p.m. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
