Noemia “Mena” Nunes, 72 of Somerville, died Wednesday after a long illness.
Born in Portugal, she lived in Somerville and was formerly of Cambridge. Noemia was the daughter of the late Irene (Pires) and Joao Antonio Alves. Noemia was a housekeeper for many years at the former Otis Hospital and also at the Mt. Auburn Hospital and retired in 1997.
Beloved wife of Anibal Nunes. Devoted mother of Fernando Nunes and his wife AnnMarie of Sandown, NH, Maria Elvira Nunes, Lucy Nunes-Vieira, Antonio Nunes and his wife Patricia, Maria Manuela Nunes all of Somerville. Mother in law of Victor Vieira. Loving grandmother of Derek, Justine, Jaclyn, Shayne, Benjamin, Sydney, Gabriela, Victoria, Danilo and the late Danny Nunes. Sister of Joaquim Alves of Peabody, Rosa Alves, Henrique Alves, and Linda Alves all of Portugal. Aunt of Christina, Paulina, Noemia, Irene, Sameiro, Libania, Luz, Lena, and Daniela.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD Tuesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 9 AM.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours Monday 4 thru 8.
Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
