Phyllis J. Jacobs, 71 of Windham, NH died Monday April 2, 2007 in the Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH. Mrs. Jacobs was born in Derry, NH on February 26, 1936 a daughter of the late Arnold R. and Lottie M. (Williams) Estey. She was raised and educated in Derry and had resided in Windham for the past 50 years. She attended Pinkerton Academy in Derry and later received her nurses training through the VA Hospital in Manchester. She worked for many years in nursing for the VA Hospital and eventually retired from the Rockingham VNA-Hospice in Derry. She was a member the Ladies Auxiliary with the VFW Post 1617 and the American Legion Post 9 both of Derry. She enjoyed bird watching and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Norman K. Jacobs, Sr. of Windham, one daughter, Marjorie Groulx and her husband Carlos of Raymond, NH, one son, Norman K. Jacobs, Jr. and his wife Esslin of Brookneal, VA, five grandchildren, one great-grandson, two sisters, Marjorie Bourget of New Boston, NH, Gloria Maynard of Raymond, two brothers, Gilbert Estey of Candia, NH, Charles Estey of Windham, also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday April 10th at 1:30pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, St. Lebre Indian School, Tongue River Rd., Ashland, MT 59004 or to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
