Mary A. (Barros) Neves, 81, of New Bedford, died November 5, 2002 at home after a long illness.
She was the wife of Manuel A. Neves, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage, and daughter of the late Caitano and Candida (Gomes) Barros.
Mrs. Neves was born in Wareham and lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. James Church.
Mrs. Neves was formerly employed as a secretary at Kay Windsor Manufacturing and Vanity Fair for many years until her retirement. She was a graduate of Kinyon Campbell Business School.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid doll collector.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Karl M. Neves of New Bedford; a daughter, Karen J. Barnett, and her husband Harvey, of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Charles Barros, and his wife Paula, of Wareham; 2 sisters, Ramona Webb of New Bedford and Jenny Goncalves, and her husband Henry, of Wareham; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Kathleen M. Neves and sister of the late Amos Barros.
