TEWKSBURY - Dorothy A. (Joyce) Joyce, age 86, a former I.R.S. employee, died Sunday, April
1, at the Mountain View Nursing Care Center in Ossipee, NH, following a long period of
declining health. She was the wife of John J. Joyce, with whom she would have celebrated her
63rd wedding anniversary on Thursday.
She was born in Arlington, Mass., on January 21, 1921, a daughter of the late William and
Dorothea (White) Joyce. She was raised in Medford, but had lived the greater part of her life in
Tewksbury. She moved to Ossipee, N.H., two years ago due to aging issues.
Prior to retirement, she worked in the mail room at the Andover Service Center for the Internal
Revenue Service.
Her family recalled her love of summer vacations in Scarborough, Maine, where she was a
frequent visitor to the seasonal horse races.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Jo-Ann Joyce of
Tewksbury, MA, Judith Boyce and her husband Henry of N.C., Janet Hepburn of Ossipee, NH; a
son and daughter-in-law, John and Oko Joyce of N.Y.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty
Murray of Winchester, Lorrraine McWilliams and her husband Francis of Winchester; six
grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service was held Friday, April 6, in the funeral
home, followed by interment in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Parkinson’s Disease Assn. of MA, 715 Albany St., Suite C-329, Boston, MA
