E. Bridgewater- Paul Astor Garabedian, 88, of E. Bridgewater, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, from cancer. He was the husband of Ruth (King) Garabedian for 64 years.
Born April 25, 1918, in South Boston, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Susan (Barter) Garabedian.
He found his way to his true home in East Bridgewater with his wife Ruth shortly after WWII began.
Mr. Garabedian was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII as well as a retiree from the Department of Corrections in Bridgewater 30 years ago.
After his retirement from the state, Paul worked at Cricket Lanes in Brockton for 15 years.
He spoke often of the wonderful times he spent talking and working with all the people he met throughout the years.
Paul will be remembered for the many years he worked and participated in the town of East Bridgewater.
Paul was an active member of the American Legion and held many offices during his years of membership. He also was a member of the St. John's Church Knights of Columbus.
He was the husband of Ruth (King); father of Susan Hall and husband Barry of East Sandwich, Paula Turner and husband Andrew of N. Dartmouth, Allyn Kingman and Dean Weber of Hanson, Ann Kingman and husband Patrick of East Bridgewater, Maryanne Fleury and husband Dennis of Middleboro and Paul Garabedian of East Bridgewater; brother of Robert Garabedian and wife Marilyn of Coldchester, CT. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held from the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., E. Bridgewater, Monday at 9:15 am. Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church at 10 am. Visiting hours Sunday 2-7 pm. Burial in Central Cemetery, E. Bridgewater.
