SALEM - Ernest E. Erola, 87, formerly of Salem, died Saturday morning, March 31, 2007 at the Hunt Nursing & retirement Home, Danvers, following a short illness. He was the husband of the late Rita P. (Tucker) Erola.
Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Einar & Marie (Wierula) Erola.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, he owned and operated Erola & Son, Inc, an electric motor repair company in Salem, which was originally founded by his father in 1940.
A lifelong resident of Salem until going into a nursing home, he was an avid yachtsman and was a member of the Jubilee Yacht Club in Beverly and the Palmer Cove Yacht Club in Salem. He was a former member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Salem.
He leaves no immediate family, but leaves a longtime personal friend, Frank Pizzo of Essex. He is predeceased by one brother, Rev. Walter Erola and two cousins, Julia Litevich and Harold Salo.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2007, from 4 to 6 pm in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
