Charlotte A. (Marsh) Henderson Ketcham, age 82, of Mumford Cove, Groton, died Sunday evening at her home with her family at her side.
Mrs. Ketcham was born in Manchester, NH on June 9, 1920 the daughter of Charles and Caroline (French) Marsh.
Raised in Epping, NH she attended local schools and was a 1942 graduate of Keene State College where she received her bachelors degree in Education. Immediately after her graduation, she accepted a position teaching at a one room schoolhouse in Wolfeboro, NH, thus beginning a long distinguished career in education.
A resident of this area since 1954, she taught 2nd grade for several years in the Groton Public School System. After completing post-graduate studies at the University of Connecticut and receiving her Masters Degree in Special Education as well as her 6th year certificate in school administration, Mrs. Ketcham accepted a position in Special Education for the Waterford School System. She retired as Director of Special Services in 1978.
She was a member of the Noank Baptist Church where she served as an usher and the Mumford Cove Association. She was an acomplished gardener and seamstress and enjoyed fishing.
Her first husband, Gordon K. Henderson died in 1971. She later married Dr. G. Wesley Ketcham who died in 1991.
Mrs. Ketcham is survived by her children, Lorna H. Henderson Possidente of Jericho Center, VT and Gregory K. Henderson of Stonington, 3 grandchildren, Adam G. and Alex T. Possidente and Kelsey Henderson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service at The Noank Baptist Church on Wednesday at 11am. Private interment will precede the service at Elm Grove Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
