Luigi F. Assortato, of Atkinson, NH, formerly of Medford and Somerville, died Saturday at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry, NH. He was 77.
Mr. Assortato was born and raised in Somerville, the son of the late Michele and the late Maria (DiChiappari) Assortato. Luigi worked throughout his life as a power plant operator. For over thirty years he was at the New England Provision Company. He also worked at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford before his retirement. Luigi moved to Atkinson, NH after his retirement. He was a Medford resident for 30 years.
He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Marino) Assortato. He was a devoted father to RoseAnn LaTorella of Medford, Michael Assortato of Revere, and Louis Assortato of Atkinson, NH. He was a loving grandfather to four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Santina Fiore of Medford and Cosmo Assortato of Florida.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Funeral Service will be celebrated in the chapel of the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday, at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
