Obituary

WEBSTER – Alice P. (Szczypien) Appelt, 78, of 10 Bates Crossing, died Tuesday, March 20, in Hubbard Regional Hospital. Her husband of 55 years, Gordon W. Appelt, died in 2004.

She leaves 2 sons, Gordon D. and his wife Antionette L. Appelt of Worcester and Timothy W. and his wife Sue E. Appelt of Webster; a daughter, Mary Alice Paul of North Grosvenordale, CT; 2 grandchildren, Michael Paul and Stephanie T. Appelt; 3 great grandchildren, Kyle, Rachel and Maximilian Paul; nieces and nephews.

She was born in Webster, a daughter of Stanislaus and Tekla (Brunczek) Szczypien. She was a graduate of Bartlett High School. She was employed at Webster Manor in accounts payable and retired in 1994.

Mrs. Appelt was an active member of Saint Louis Church and its League of Catholic Women. She was also a Girl Scout troop leader for many years.

The funeral will be held Friday, March 23, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Louis Church, 15 Lake Street. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, March 22, in the funeral home. The family requests donations be made to Saint Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake Street, Webster, MA 01570 or to the Central Mass Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
