WORCESTER-Roy A. Tucker, 52, of Worcester, departed this life on Friday, March 16th, in St. Vincent Hospital, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 34 years, Robin A. (Johnson) Tucker; a daughter, Latisha T. Tucker and her companion Jonathan Davis of Worcester; a son, Rodney A. Tucker and his spouse Brooke (Wells) of Sanford, NC; 4 nephew-sons, Orlando, Keith, Daryll and Aaron Baxter, all of Worcester; 10 grandchildren, Kelsey, Mikayla, Alexandra, Tre’, Kurtis, Tashari, Whitney, Kaleb, Taylor and Sidney; 5 sisters, Darlene Boutwell, Laura Carpenter, Tammy Tucker, all of Worcester, Gigi Brooks of CT and Mildred Tucker of NY; 2 brothers, Melvin Tucker Jr. of NC and Roy Brooks of NH; his mother-in-law, Morrie B. Johnson of Worcester; a niece and 2 nephews, Wanda and Mitchell Baxter and Bobby Tucker; and many other nephews, nieces and special friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Latasha S. Tucker, his grandmother Laura Wright and his father, Melvin Tucker Sr.
He was born in Greensboro, NC, on October 15, 1954 and spent most of his life in Worcester. Roy was educated in the Worcester Public School system and last attended South High School. He worked for Wyman-Gordon Company and Becker College. A member of the Second Baptist Church, his greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and dancing with his wife.
The funeral is Friday, March 23rd, with a service at Noon in Second Baptist Church, 14 Hammond Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
