GLOUCESTER: Harry C. Eastman, Jr., 85, of 88 Pleasant Street, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Anna L. “Blondie” (Parks) Eastman.
Born in Windsor, Vermont on December 15, 1921, he was the son of the late Harry W. C. and Rubye E. (Stark) Eastman. He had resided in Gloucester most of his life and was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1939.
Harry entered the U. S. Army in September of 1942. He served in the 335th Infantry Regiment during World War II as a Tank Reconnaissance Specialist in Germany, Africa and France. He was honorably discharged on January 27, 1946.
He was employed as a truck driver for the R. B. Strong Construction Co. and the former John Cackle Morse Construction Co. for many years before retiring in 1990. He also worked as a commercial fisherman for many years aboard the “Phyllis A”, “Naomi Bruce” and the “Linda B.”
Harry loved spending time with his grandchildren and involving himself in their many activities.
In addition to his wife of thirty-six years, he is survived by three daughters, Linda O’Leary, Beth and her husband, Richard Ilges and Amy Newman, three sons, James and his wife, Debra Eastman, Jon Eastman and Mark and his wife, Mindy Eastman, nine stepchildren, Christine and her husband, Joseph Simoes, Kenneth Perrin, Jr., Ralph Perrin, Joanne and her husband, Yuri Morozov, Brenda and her husband, Douglas Pike, Keith and his wife, Patricia Perrin, Kevin and his wife, Annette Perrin, Timothy Perrin and his partner, David Smith and Yvonne Carpenter, a brother and sister-in-law, Wellesley C. and Marie Eastman, twenty-five grandchildren, James, Jr. and his wife, Lisa Hinckley, Heidi and her husband, Joseph Scola, Debra Hinckley, Jamie Johnson, Tanya Dagatti, Zachary Eastman, Jon Eastman, Jr. Matthew Eastman, Emily Eastman, Ross Eastman, Richard Ilges, Jr., Jason Ilges, Lucas Ilges, Nicole Newman, Nathan Newman, Jody and his wife, Katie Simoes, Marlena Simoes, Troy Simoes, Isaac Pike, Alicia Pike, Brendan Pike, Derek Perrin, Autumn Perrin, Sean Carpenter and Travis Carpenter, twelve great-grandchildren, Jacob Hinckley, Jacqueline and Benjamin Duquette, Cheyenne Allen, Nicholas, Amanda and Alysha Scola,, Melissa Hinckley, Angelina Dagatti, Jacob Drew, Ryan Eastman and Miranda Johnson and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Muriel Eastman, a son-in-law, Charles O’Leary and a granddaughter-in-law, Colleen Eastman.
His funeral services will be held on Wednesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 1:30 P.M. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:30 P.M.
