Harriet Celia (Webb) Tynes, 89, died at the Copley at Stoughton on Friday, March 16 after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Harold J. Tynes. Born in Cardiff, Wales, England, she was a resident of Stoughton for 50 years. Mrs. Tynes was a Supervisor at Polaroid in Norwood for over 20 years before retiring in 1982. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting and traveling.
Mrs. Tynes is survived by her daughter, Camelia Wright of Foxboro, as well as her grandsons, Arthur J. Jarvis of KY and Terrance K. Elder of Stoughton and her great-granddaughter, Paris Lee Elder. Special thanks to her caregivers Julie Rogers, Laurel Staiti, Fred and Timmy Sayers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Elder and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 24 Pleasant St., Brockton on Wednesday, March 21 from 5:30-7 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 7 PM. Donations in Harriet‘s name may be made to Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 24 Pleasant St., Brockton, MA 02301.
