Obituary

GLOUCESTER: William A. “Bill” Turner, Sr., 47, of 110 Magnolia Avenue died unexpectedly on Thursday evening, February 22, 2007 in the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the husband of Lisa M. (Harloff) Turner.
Born in Gloucester on August 20, 1959, he was the son of the late William C. and Carol I. (Plunkett) Turner. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and had attended Gloucester public schools.
Well-known in the trucking industry, he ran W.A. Turner & Sons Trucking for many years. He had also worked for numerous firms, including Cape Ann Trucking. Most recently he owned and operated Turner Towing.
He enjoyed building models and HO train layouts and restoring trucks. He was also avid musician and loved playing the guitar.
In addition to his wife of twenty-one years, he is survived by eight children, W. Robert Turner, William A. Turner, Jr., Michael Turner, fiancé of Leslie Beauregard, Amanda, wife of Jeremy Silva, Gary Lane, fiancé of Sarah Harvey, Daniel Turner, Brittany and Kenneth Turner, twelve grandchildren, a brother, Leonard, husband of Judy Adams, his father-in-law, Randolph Dulany, a brother-in-law, Robert Harloff, Jr., a sister-in-law, Brenda, wife of Russell McDougall and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by many close friends including, Jennifer Doyle and Amber Nielsen.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 9:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William A. Turner, Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o Gloucester Cooperative Bank, 160 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930. Interment will be held in the Calvary Cemetery.
