GLOUCESTER: Richard C. Nelson, 88, died March 10, 2007 in the Seacoast Nursing & Retirement Center following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on March 29, 1918, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Ethel D. (McIsaac) Nelson. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester and a graduate of the Gloucester High School.
He was employed for many years by the former LePage’s. He was once the manager of the former Shepherd’s Market on Main Street and had also worked for Schrafft’s Chocolate in Boston.
He is survived by his sister, Carol B. Poirier of Ipswich, a brother, Joseph P. “Buddy” Nelson, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held privately in the Beechbrook Cemetery, West Gloucester. Arrangements are under the direction of the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester.
